Greg Feldman’s story is rooted in hard work, service, and a lifelong commitment to public safety. Born in Chicago and raised in a blue-collar, post-World War II neighborhood, Greg grew up surrounded by families who worked tirelessly under the glow of the steel mills. Those early lessons in responsibility, community, and resilience shaped his life and inspired his four-decade career in public service.
After graduating from Bowen High School’s college-prep program, Greg attended the University of Oklahoma, where he discovered his calling while serving with the university police department. He went on to build a distinguished 46-year career in law enforcement, serving communities in Illinois and later in Florida. Greg spent a quarter-century with the South Miami Police Department, retiring as Assistant Chief of Police — a role that reflects his commitment to protecting neighborhoods, solving complex problems, and leading with integrity.
Greg continued his service as Director of Safety and Security for Johnson & Wales University and was later appointed by former Florida Attorney General Bob Butterworth as the Southern Region Criminal Justice Coordinator for the Florida Department of Children and Families. In this capacity, he worked collaboratively with more than 70 federal, state, and local agencies across four counties, strengthening systems that keep vulnerable families safe.
Greg and his wife, Jan — married for more than forty years — built their life around family, service, and community. In 2005, they purchased property in Palm Coast and later moved to the barrier island in the Hammock, proudly making Flagler County their forever home. The Hammock community holds special meaning for Greg, as its residents have long contributed to Flagler’s character yet have never had one of their own serve on the County Commission. Dedication to service runs deep in the Feldman family: both of their sons are Flagler County Firefighter/Paramedics, serving and protecting the same community their parents love.
To Greg, Flagler County represents the best of what a community can be — strong families, deep-rooted values, and neighbors who look out for one another. From the scenic beauty and coastal lifestyle of the Hammock and beachside areas, to the vibrant neighborhoods of Palm Coast, to the historic heart of Bunnell, and the rural strength of the west side, Greg understands that every part of this diverse county adds something unique. He believes Flagler’s greatest strength is its people — longtime local families, small business owners, first responders, and residents who choose Flagler for its exceptional quality of life.
Today, Greg continues his service through leadership roles on the Boards of the Flagler Tiger Bay Club, Northeast Florida Crimestoppers, the Flagler County Cultural Council, and as Flagler County’s representative — and current Chairman — of the Volusia-Flagler TPO Citizen Advisory Council. He also volunteers annually with the Palm Coast Songwriters Festival and is a life member of both the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Florida Police Chiefs Association.
Greg Feldman is running for Flagler County Commission, District 2, to bring integrity, experience, and common-sense leadership to a county he loves. He believes in smart growth, strong public safety, and ensuring that every resident — whether in the Hammock, a city, or an unincorporated area — has a seat at the table.
